The two sisters move to new homes where they experience love and disappointment when they are later abandoned by the young men whom they intended to marry.Published in 1811, Sense and Sensibility is a reflection of upper and middle-class English society in the early 19th century, and juxtaposes two different ways of thinking - sense and sensibility. This popular classic title has been made into a movie and a TV-series.

Jane Austen (16 December 1775 - 18 July 1817) was a major English novelist. She is known for her elegantly written works of romantic fiction, which offer witty social commentary of historical importance among critics and scholars. Born into a large family and educated primarily by her father, Jane wrote her first novel, Love and Friendship, by the age of 14. During her lifetime, she wrote many other successful titles including Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1816).
